GHS Enterprise is a non-profit making subsidiary company of the Gujarat Hindu Society - a registered charity that provides a range of social and cultural facilities for local people.
GHS Enterprise was founded in 2004, with a remit to raise funds that could be ploughed back to support the local community and to help finance the various services provided at the GHS Centre. In order to achieve this goal, it generates revenue by hiring out the Centre's many meeting and conference rooms and by delivering a professional conference support service.
Today, GHS Enterprise is a thriving business that counts amongst its many clients local authorities, NHS Trusts, community groups and private businesses of all sizes. The GHS Centre hosts numerous education classes and incorporates an IT suite that is freely available for use by local residents.
Enterprise was named the Social Enterprise of the Year
in the Northwest Development Agency's Ethnic Minority Business Forum NW
Awards for 2008.
- The company was a finalist in the social enterprise category of the
2008 'Be Inspired' Business Awards, which are run each
year by North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.
- GHS Enterprise has also achieved a 'highly commended' rating for business tourism in the Lancashire & Blackpool Tourism Awards.
GHS Enterprise has worked closely with environmental advisors from the University of Central Lancashire in order to develop an environmental policy and to optimise both its waste management practices and resource efficiency.
